The African American Forum is committed to addressing quality of life issues that affect the African American community. To this end, we actively partner with other organizations to provide important discussion arenas such as forums on African American business development, debates on issues important to African Americans in the Greater Lexington area.
A recent example of an African American Forum sponsored forum is the Forum for Mayor, held at Transylvania University on October 3, 2006. This mayoral forum allowed the issues and concerns of the African American community to be voiced to candidates who desired to lead the Lexington community. This forum allowed the mayoral candidates the opportunity to demonstrate his/her commitment to cultural diversity and willingness to allow everyone to participate in our community's growth and development. More importantly, those who attended the Forum for Mayor were able to address the candidates on issues they may not have otherwise had the opportunity to pose.
Please be sure to check our Events section for information on upcoming community forums and be sure to Contact Us to share your ideas for future community forums.
